Jets willing to Give QB Mark Sanchez “A Second Chance”

Tebow is out and Geno Smith is in. That’s the reality the New York Jets have to deal with from now on. But even when General manager John Idzik promises a much more aggressive team this season, so far nothing looks in place for a team trying to wash its face after a disastrous campaign.

While the New York Jets insist their situation will change in the months heading to the 2013 NFL Season, we all know some things will remain the same and aren’t likely to change anytime soon. One of them is their quarterback situation. With 5 quarterbacks in their roster, the Jets need to decide who will take the lead this season.  However, the team seems heading the same direction as last season. They are willing to give Mark Sanchez a second chance.

Despite the fact that Sanchez led his team to a truly forgettable season, ending the campaign with a 6-10 record, and that talented rookie Geno Smith is now part of team; the Jets aren’t ready to give up on Sanchez.

In a radio interview aired this morning, General manager John Idzik confirmed that a "focused, energized, very positive" Sanchez will be part of the "open competition" at quarterback along with Smith, David Garrard and Greg McElroy.

Really? They cut Tebow but want to keep Sanchez? I was them; I’d drive to the state limits, give $5 for a bus ticket and leave them there.  Period.   But that’s not it.  Explaining Monday's waiving of Tim Tebow, Idzik tried to explain why the team pulled the leveler on him, but didn’t mention any good reasons. Yeah, yeah, we know Tebow sucks and that they had six quarterbacks, but failed to give any good reason to keep Sanchez.

Sanchez will have to prove he deserves the starting position once the team enters its training camp, even when he had two seasons to prove it. If the rookie proves he has what it takes to get the starting position, the coaching staff should limit Sanchez to simply hang around. But if Smith struggles, then coach Rex Ryan may be forced to face his decisions and pray for Sanchez to do an acceptable job next season. I hope that doesn’t happen. I honestly want the team to ditch them both once and for all.

Regardless of how this story ends, I'm sure I'll be betting against them this season. An where am I going to do that? Simple, at Sports Betting Online. Houston Rockets Try to Rebound against OKC Thunder in Game 2

Game kicks off at 7:05:00 PM ET at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

Days after a stunning 120-91 win over Houston on Sunday, Oklahoma City’s playoff series against the Houston Rockets resumes this Wednesday night, and while bettors and NBA fans aren’t willing to give Houston the benefit of the doubt, the Rockets still have the chance to recover from the 29- point loss suffered on Game 1 and even the series before returning to the Toyota Center.

Game 1 exposed many weaknesses for Houston.  The Thunder, who took a 1-0 lead in the series, had no trouble submitting its rival in almost every instance of the game.

While the Rockets faced many difficulties during the game, at some point Houston managed to weep away an 11-point deficit in the first half and tie the score 40-40. But that didn’t last for too long.  After a 20-5 run in the second quarter, Oklahoma put together a comfortable 60-45 lead minutes before the halftime.

Oklahoma’s top scorer Kevin Durant, who had no trouble playing against his former teammate, James Harden, led the way with 24 points. Russell Westbrook was just two rebounds short from a triple-double with 19 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Serge Ibaka netted 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and OKC sixth man Kevin Martin contributed to his team victory with 16 points.
The Rockets meanwhile, never found the way to break the Thunder’s defense. Harden led the Rockets with 20 points, but no other starter finished the game with double figures.  In addition, the playoff series started wrong for Jeremy Lin, who never found his best game in his first postseason match. To be honest, the Rockets never got any help from Lin; who scored just a single field goal from seven attempts and had as many turnovers (four) as assists.

With the victory over Houston, Oklahoma improved to 18-5 in playoff games at its home arena. The 29-point win also marked Oklahoma’s third rout over the Houston Rockets this season. In two games played this season, Thunder notched victories of 30 (124-94, Dec. 31st at Toyota Center) and 22 points (120-98, Nov. 28 @ Chesapeake Energy Arena).

After the massive loss suffered on Sunday, it's realistic to expect Houston to show some improvements on Game 2, but the question that worries most sportsbook betting fans is: How much better can the Rockets be against a highly inspired team such as Oklahoma?  We’ll have the answer this Wednesday night. In the meantime, you can bet this game at Sports Betting Online and receive 10% cashback on all your wagers. Win or Lose.

A Look to the 2013 NBA Playoffs

With regular season almost over and only one playoff berth in the Western Conference that still in contention, the NBA playoffs seem to get a bit clearer each day. So it’s time to review the teams qualified for the postseason and take a look to the possible playoff matchups.

Eastern Conference:

All eight playoff berths in the Eastern Conference are filled in, with the Heat taking the No.1 place overall with a 65-16 record. Division leaders, the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers sit in the No. 2 and 3 spots, while the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks all clinched their ticket to the post season, leaving the Bulls and Hawks battling for the No. 5 and No. 6 spots.

Possible Playoff Matchups:

The way things are, the Heat will play the eight-seed Milwaukee Bucks in the opening round of the playoffs. Brooklyn will take on either the Hawks or Bulls and Indiana will play the other team. The No. 2 seed New York Knicks will play against the Boston Celtics.

Eastern Conference Standings:

No. 1: Miami Heat (65-16), Won Southeast Division, No. 1 in East, No. 1 overall seed in playoffs)
No. 2: New York Knicks (53-28, Won Atlantic Division, No. 2 in East)
No. 3: Pacers (49-31, Won Central Division, No. 3 in East)
No. 4: Nets (48-33, No. 4 in East)
No. 5: Hawks (44-36, 1/2 game ahead of Bulls for No. 5 in East with 2 games left)
No. 6: Bulls (44-37, 1/2 game behind Hawks for No. 5 in East with 1 game left)
No. 7: Celtics (41-39, No. 7 in East)
No. 8: Bucks (37-44, No. 8 in East)

Western Conference:

In recent weeks, the Oklahoma City Thunder surprised most NBA fans and bettors thanks to an 11-5 record in March, and a 5-1 record this month. Oklahoma’s effort was enough to dethrone San Antonio as the dominating force in the Conference and also gave the team home court throughout the Western Conference playoffs.

Things remain unclear in the West, and the the remaining spots and final positions will finally take shape in the last days of the season. Perhaps the biggest question in the Conference is if whether the Lakers or Jazz would get into the playoffs. The Lakers play the Rockets on Wednesday with one goal in mind: Win the game and get into the playoffs as the No.7 seed. But if Houston upsets the Lakers, then the Jazz can clinch the eight-seed with a victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. If Utah loses the game, the season is over.

Possible Playoff Matchups:

If the Western Conference playoffs started today, Oklahoma City would face the Lakers, the L.A. Clippers would play the Memphis Grizzlies, the Denver Nuggets would play Golden State and the Spurs would play the Rockets.

Western Conference Standings:

No.1: Oklahoma City Thunder (60-21,Won Northwest Division, No. 1 overall in West)
No. 2: Spurs (58-23, Won Southwest Division, No. 2 in West)
No. 3: Nuggets (56-25, No. 3 in West; but could move down to No.4)
No. 4: L.A. Clippers (54-26, Won Pacific Division and clinched at least No. 4 in West)
No. 5: Grizzlies (55-26, No. 5 in West)
No. 6: Warriors (46-35, No. 6 in West; could move down to No. 7)
No. 7: Rockets (45-36, 7 in West; could move up or down one spot)
No. 8: Lakers (44-37, No. 8 in West; with one game left (April 17 vs. Houston). Could move to No. 7)
No. 9: Jazz (43-38, 1/2 game behind Lakers for No. 8 seed; can clinch No. 8 spot)

Louisville Cardinals vs. Michigan Wolverines: Who Will Be National Champion?

After hundreds of practices, hours of training and shooting drills and a long journey to the NCAA Championship, the biggest day of the season is finally here. Today, we’ll see a champion crowned when the Michigan Wolverines meet the Louisville Cardinals at the Georgia Dome.

The two best programs in the country are just one win away from claiming the national title. In one hand, Louisville had a tremendous season and relayed on their best game right when it mattered most. The Cards, winners of 18 of their last 19 games, have simply rocked their way through the tournament. Louisville posted wins vs. Duke (85-63) in an Elite Eight game that will be remembered most for the shocking injury sustained by forward Kevin Ware, and against NC A&T (79-48), Colorado State (82-56) and Oregon (77-69) in the Midwest Region. Last Saturday, the Cards sealed their ticket to the final game of the season after overcoming a double digit point deficit to beat the Wichita State Shockers in one of the closest games of the Tournament.

In the other hand, the Michigan Wolverines paved the way to the Final Four by posting wins over South Dakota State (71-56) and VCU (78-53) followed by an overtime win against Kansas (87-85 OT). The team finally earned the trip to Atlanta by beating Florida (79-59) to finish off South Regional action. Last Saturday, Michigan posted a 61-56 win against the Syracuse Orange to advance to the National Title Game.

Without a doubt, the two programs are playing the best game in the NCAA and both deserve the title. The Cards with Russ Smith and Peyton Siva have experience and leadership qualities. Michigan with Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. found the confidence and balance to break any opponent.

Even so, the Cardinals enter tonight’s game as 4-point favorite to win this game. But considering the strengths and weaknesses of each team, online sports betting fans would need extra time to analyze the odds on this game. Keep in mind the fact that Michigan will deal with some of the best pressure defense in the nation and that Louisville would need to double its effort to stop a highly inspired Michigan offense.

Michigan’s Mitch McGary, who did not even join the starting lineup full time until the beginning of the Tournament,  will be a presence in the post on both ends of the floor, and Nik Stauskas will get back to the shooting that has defined him at his best this year. Michigan will get huge moments from players like Albrecht, Levert, and Morgan, who was almost sidelined after the emergence of McGary, but has always been a key member of the Wolverines.

The Cardinals have shown off their ability to win in different styles during the NCAA Tournament. After running Duke off the floor in the second half of the Elite Eight, Wichita State forced Louisville to slow the pace and would not turn the ball over, leaving the Cardinals to play more of a half court game. That turned out to be the ideal way to Hancock more involved, and the junior swingman helped Louisville overcome a 12-point second-half deficit. Of course, Smith added 21 points as well and will be a key to keeping Hardaway Jr. and Glenn Robinson from slashing to the hole. Smith has scored at least 20 points in each of the five NCAA Tournament games and combines with Siva to form one of the fastest backcourts in college basketball and a tandem that jumps passing lanes and piles up steals defensively.

Despite the result, Michigan and Louisville have the chance to explode their potential and provide college basketball fans with the most entertaining game this college basketball season.
